Academic Enhancement Programme

- ASSET-
This is a skill based diagnostic test conducted for Std III - VIII every year. It helps in the assessment of scholastic skills of the student through educational testing. - Olympiad Exams in Science, Maths, English and Computer Science are conducted each year to encourage students participation and make them more interactive, practical and innovative.
- Coaching for NTSE exams are also conducted in the school every year.
- MINDSPARK – A computer based programme to revolutionize the study of Mathematics. This programme has been introduced this year, 2011 for the students of Std I – VIII The mindspark classes are incorporated in the regular time-table.
Field Trips
Students from class V to X are taken on field trips to enhance their classroom knowledge by experiential learning.

Children participate in a number of inter-house and inter-school competitions.
Excursion and Tours
Excursion and tours are arranged every year. This gives each child an opportunity to develop to develop group spirit, to develop group spirit, acceptability and a sense of independence.
Drawing and Craft classes
The school has Drawing and Craft classes from Nursery to Std. X. The students can participate in various inter-school competitions as part of the school curriculum and consistently win prizes.
Music and Dance
The school choir has won acclaim in several state level and inter-school competitions. Music & Dance classes are part of the school curriculum and children are encouraged to come forward and display their talents in inter-class music and dance competitions, etc.
School Band
Our school band has been popular in this zone for its high standard of performance in every zonal function. Boys and Girls with aptitude for this are selected and trained for the school band team.
Bulbuls, Scouts & Guides
Scouts & Guides is a prestigious addition to our school. It is an opportunity to the students to enroll themselves in their activities so that they grow up to be responsible citizens of India.

Academic Year 2013-2014
12th June 2013
Special Assembly was held on 12th June 2013. The theme ‘Leadership’ was conducted by the Jr. School Cabinet. T he day‘s proceeding was compered by Thanmayee and Gracy. Ms. Rukmini welcomed and introduced the new students and the Jr. School Teachers in a very unique approach which was appreciated and liked by all. The newly elected Jr. Captain introduced his cabinet members and they, in turns, expressed their duties that they have to discharge every day. After which the ‘Rules and Regulations‘ for the students was read by Ms. Gowri .The Jr. School music choir along with the Jr. School elected cabinet expressed their high aspiration through a melodious theme song. Finally the vote of thanks was given by Jr. School Sports Captain Nandeesh.

INVESTURE CEREMONY
State board High School held its investure ceremony on 18th June’12 in the school GMT hall at 9.a.m.
The opening of the ceremony started with the Guard of Honour followed by the General Salute by the school band group.
The programme for the day was compered by Namitha Mahalakshmi welcomed the gathering
The day’s chief guest Director Principal Ms.Hema Narayan presided over the ceremony and administered the oath to the new office bearers, who vowed to uphold the values of the Institution. The oath taking ceremony was led by Divyashree school capitan. This was followed by the presentation of the badges and flags by the Director Principal Ms.Hemaa Narayan to the newly elected cabinet body. Madam, Principal in her inspiring speech urged the office bearers to be good leaders. She highlighted the key points in the speech of every captains and appreciated them for their eloquency in their speeches. She spoke about the importance of ‘Belief in oneself’.
The vote of thanks was given by Praathi Prasad Junior school state board captain and the ceremony was concluded with the national anthem by the band group.

SPEICAL ASSEMBLY
The first assembly for 2012-13 by the Junior School cabinet. The days proceeding was welcoming the new academic year with welcome song and message. There was a talk and on leadership, thereafter followed the message by the teachers on Rules and values of each student.

Awareness Programmed on waste management was organised by “Sahaas”
Minti-Jain a representative from this organisation spoke about the items that can be recycled. She gave the statistic about the amount of waste collected in Sudarshan Vidya Mandir. She instructed the students to throw the waste in proper bins provided, so that the percentage waste (of non-biodegradable waste mixed with organic matter) which has mounted to 40% can be reduced considerably. She appreciated the institution for its participation in their drive to achieve in controlling the waste

Class Assembly of VII `A’ was held on 26th June 2012 .
Theme :“Music a medicine to the mind”.
A talk on music by the class teacher. She gave a demonstration on the interrelation between monsoon and music through “Rain clap”. The effect of which enthralled the lot.

A report on Inter House Competitions 2012-2013
The Junior School State Board had its fabulous four days Inter House Competition from 10th July to 13th July’12. Each day the area of focus was on different, comprising various competitions like group dance, solo singing, mask making, cooking without fire, creative writing, Declamation, Elocution and many more literary and cultural activities. The students enthusiastically participated in most of the competitions. They took keen interest in the preparation for the competitions they had given their entry. The number of participation were quiet large in all the competition. Students were in real fest mood on these consecutive days of the competitions. They unleashed their talents in the area they were good at. Students excellent performance in each competitions was recognized and rewarded. Gift coupons and certificate was honoured to the prize winners by the Judges on the spot. The outcome of the competitions marked each student’s ability and skill they were good at.

Prize distribution for the meritorious students for the academic year 2011-12, under the categories-Full attendance and highest in subject was held on 17th July ’12 in the school auditorium. The day’s Chief Guest was our Director Principal Ms.Hemaa Narayan. The opening of the ceremony begin with the invocation song by Junior School students. The chief guest was welcomed with the rain clap symbolizing her presence as the first rain shower after a scorching and tiring summer season. Madam Principal honoured the meritorious students by giving away the prizes. She addressed the gathering. In her address she appreciated the excellent of the students in academic and regularity.

SCHOLASTIC INDIA PRIVATE LIMITED
Every year scholastic display their books in our school. Books are displayed in an exhibition-cum-sale manner. Organisation of `Book Clubs’ are conducted quarterly, our children show great enthusiasm and interest in buying and reading the books and prove books as the best asset for a person-various competition like essay writing, book mark making are organized by them. This year exhibition-cum-sales book fair are put up on 19th, 20th and 21st July’12 in the school auditorium.

Hindi Day and Sanskrit Day
Significance of the languages was emphasized. The programme started with the day’s thought in Sanskrit and Hindi. The follow-up were news in Hindi and Sanskrit. Students from 3rd to 7th Grade participated enthusiastically. They put up shows related to the subject in the form of skit, songs and dance.

Grade 5-Excursion to Innovative Film City
The students of Grade 5 had been to Innovative Film city on 4th Aug 12. They set off at 9 a.m. from the school after the prayer reached the spot at 10.45 a.m.
The children enjoyed the maximum at Mirror Maze, Swimming Pool, Cartoon City and Roller Coaster Ride. They played star war games with water guns. The other spots that they enjoyed were Joy Horse Ride and Scary House. They visited the Dino World, Wax Museum, Believe IT or Not which was educative and informative to the students. The 3D movie added thrill of joy to the trip. They had lunch in the afternoon and snacks in the evening. The students enjoyed and carried lingering sweet memories of enjoyment. They reached school at 6 p.m.

An awareness programme was conducted by Dabur India Ltd., the objective being initially Odomos Anti Mosquito drive with Ben10. It was an interactive session for the students where the programme co-ordinator conducted quiz on Mosquito borne disease.

Kannada Day was celebrated. Children presented cultural programme for the occasion. Significance of the language was highlighted.

One Nation Reading conducted by Scholastic India Ltd. was observed on 30th Nov’12. “I pledge to be a reader now and forever “ is the motto. This pledge was read by the Junior School State Board Captain, Syed Umar. Children read their favourite book from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Children activity “the Graffiti Wall Poster” was arranged. Students unleashed their talents through write up, drawing and paste(Patch work).

Choral Music Competition was organized by AIR – Bangalore. 20 students participated in the first stage line competition – AIR recording(Audition). Result-they got selected successfully for the recording the Regional level entry which will be held on 5th December 2012.
3rd December 2012
NIE conducted “Hey Math” a workshop for Grade VI students. The concept “BODMAS” rule of simplifying mathematical expressions was introduced by conducting a game.
“Hey Math” is a system developed by a group of professionals for presenting mathematical concepts in a simple way for easy understanding, in turn aiming to eliminate fear associated with mathematics.

Annual Sports Prize Distribution
Annual sports prize distribution for Grade 3 to 7 was held in the school auditorium (GMT Hall). The Senior PE Masters Ms. Aradhya and Mr. Krishna Reddy honoured the students who excelled in sports by giving away the prizes to them. The Championship award was given grade wise to the boys and girls category separately.

Annual Day
Junior School State board celebrated its most anticipated annual event marked as the Annual Day on 14th and 15th December 2012. The vent was hosted within the school premises in the school auditorium.
The day started with great zeal and enthusiasm. The excitement event begin its day with a warm welcome speech by Vishnu S and Chethan B. R. The Chief Guest of the occasion being our Respected director Principal Ms. Hemaa Narayan.
Our students of Grade 3 to 5 showcased a scintillating performance in the English Drama “The Nuclear Test” and Kannada Drama “Nisarga”. The dramas highlighted the grave problem that country is facing at present which drove home the message –“The importance of family bond” and alarming issue of floral warming.
Besides this, the English Skit “ The Wise Judgement”-presenting the Arabian Nights depiction and the Kannada Drama –“Tenalirama’s histrionic depiction was a wonderful treat for the sense conveying the message –“Honesty is the best policy”.
The audience were impressed with the dancers performance. They blazed the stage with their graceful twist and turns movements.
The day kept the audience enthralled throughout the event. The programme came to an halt with the vote of thanks rendered by Rahul V and Praapthi Prasad.

Field Trip to Sri Vani Science Park
A visionary dream of Hanumavana” Sri Vani Management nestled on a sparkling large area. It was really a kinesthetic hand on natural learning for the inquiring minds.
It was like a walking realistic approval keeping in mind the students misconception; learning science concepts through better understanding wherein the art of science is been taught through innovative methods.

OPEN DAY-2012-13
The Open Day Exhibition was organized for two days 4th & 5th January’13.
The students unleashed their potentials in the most enthusiastic approach. The Open Day created an atmosphere for efficient team work among the students. They exhibited their skills and talents through the display of charts, models, working models, games and magic.
The parents visited the classes in large numbers. They appreciated the enthusiastic constructive teamwork of the children. The positive comments in the ‘Suggestion Book’ boosted the pride of the students.
