Tests and Examinations: Annual Examination
Annual Examination which is the Promotional examination is based on the entire syllabus as there is no semester scheme of examination for high school.

As per the Department rules, examination in Physical Education (including Yoga) will be conducted for 100 marks for Mid term as well as Annual Examination.
Special classes for the students, whose academic performance needs to be improved, are conducted in the school.
Simplified work sheets are used to increase their comprehension.
Academic Enhancement Programme
- ASSET- This is a skill based diagnostic test conducted for Std III - VIII every year. It helps in the assessment of scholastic skills of the student through educational testing.
- Olympiad Exams in Science, Maths, English and Computer Science are conducted each year to encourage students participation and make them more interactive, practical and innovative.
- Coaching for NTSE exams are also conducted in the school every year.
- MINDSPARK – A computer based programme to revolutionize the study of Mathematics. This programme has been introduced this year, 2011 for the students of Std I – VIII The mindspark classes are incorporated in the regular time-table.

Children participate in a number of inter-house and inter-school competitions.
Excursion and Tours
Excursion and tours are arranged every year. This gives each child an opportunity to develop to develop group spirit, to develop group spirit, acceptability and a sense of independence.
Drawing and Craft classes
The school has Drawing and Craft classes from Nursery to Std. X. The students can participate in various inter-school competitions as part of the school curriculum and consistently win prizes.
Music and Dance
The school choir has won acclaim in several state level and inter-school competitions. Music & Dance classes are part of the school curriculum and children are encouraged to come forward and display their talents in inter-class music and dance competitions, etc.
School Band
Our school band has been popular in this zone for its high standard of performance in every zonal function. Boys and Girls with aptitude for this are selected and trained for the school band team.
Bulbuls, Scouts & Guides
Scouts & Guides is a prestigious addition to our school. It is an opportunity to the students to enroll themselves in their activities so that they grow up to be responsible citizens of India.

There are various clubs to provide greater opportunities to children to involve themselves in different activities as well as to unearth the aptitude of the children in different fields of co-curricular activities. There are resourceful teachers making these clubs functional.

First Assembly for the year was conducted by X STD.
VIII STD students were welcomed and new teachers were introduced.
Rules and regulations were read out by Mr.Bhatt and Mrs.Nandini Jay.

Investiture Ceremony
Oath taking ceremony by the newly elected captains and vice Captains.
She was welcomed by the school band. The chief guest distributed the badges to the School captain, School Vice Captain, Cultural Captain, Cultural Vice Captains, Sports Captain and Sports Vice Captains of both Senior and Junior School. She also gave away flags to all the 4 house leaders which was followed by the oath taking. The captains also spoke on the occasion highlighting the duties of the captains, the work allotted to the various houses etc.
Principal addressed the gathering and spoke how a true leader should conduct himself/herself. The function came to an end with the singing of the National Anthem.
June 20th 2012
`Sahas’ group gave a demonstration on waste management which included Power Point presentation and a short lecture. It was an interactive session. The organiser also gave the results of the previous year’s work. She encouraged more students to come forward and participate in the management of waste.
June 25th 2012
Music day was celebrated along with the regular assembly. It started off with the invocation song, followed by group song in Kannada, Hindi and western music. There was special tabla performance. Contribution by M.S.Subbalakshmi and Ajit Singh was discussed. The programme came to an end with the trio performing on the keyboard rendering some soulful songs. M.R.Abhishek of VIII C participated in the Bangalore Auditions of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa L ‘il champs, 2012 and has been selected for next round.

Radio Jockeying started off with a big bang-State Board High School-Grade X students-Aditi, Pranav Shettigar, Sumana supported by Prashanth Hollagave a nice start for the day with the theme-Rain.
Many songs connected with rain were played. It was a welcome `Rain’ theme for the parched Bangalore.

World population day was observed by Vishveshwaraiya Industrial & Technological Museum. A seminar was organized for high school students.

The first prize distribution function for the year 2012-13 was held on 16th July 2012-13 was held on 16th July 2012 at G.M.T hall. The function was presided over by our Director Principal Ms.Hema Narayan. She felicitated the school Toppers (2011-12) of VIII and IX by distributing certificates. Children who had 100% attendance were also felicitated. She graced the function by praising the children for their achievement and also the teachers for their successful team work.

‘My Child’ workshop was organized by Alwyn and Savitha to inculcate the importance of love among the children. It was conducted for the students of grade VIII.

Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium conducted a 3 day exhibition entitled science in action 10 students from Grade X accompanied by Mrs.Nandini Ashok attended.

‘Nazariya’ painting competition was conducted at Bal Bhavan on 11th August in which a total of 453 students from across 31 schools participated in the finals. Our school building artists also participated and four have won in the II level.

CMCA was launched with introduction and some information about the motives of the movements, the places where it is started were given by CMCA club members along with the PowerPoint presentation. An oath was taken by the school children to maintain cleanliness in and around the school and to create awareness among the public.
One child of X Std was taken to Carmel Convent for the demonstration of the project works on Science for Inspire Award.

Inter House Cultural Festival
The Interhouse Cultural Festival started off with a colourful display of rings at the entrance-the colour of the rings depicting the 4 houses. The entrance was decorated by a flexiboard displaying the various activities. The cultural programme was inaugurated by the Director-Principal Ms.Hemaa Narayan by the lighting of the lamp. Various events that were to be included were introduced by the cultural captains. 2 items each for 8th, 9th and 10th were the main items of the day. Face painting, Solo singing, Elocution were some of the interesting items of Day 1.
Taluk Level Athletic Meet
One more feather to the cap of S.V.M. ; Our students participated in the Taluk Level Athletic Meet – in which Keerthi of X D won the I Prize in 1500 mts. run.

The second day of the cultural event started off with Solo song by 10th and Group song by the IX Std. Two individual events like Fabric Painting, Origamy were conducted. Flower carpet for the X Std. was a feast to the eyes. Std IX students marketed their products well.
Another important milestone was set by Keerthi of X D in Taluk Level Athletic Meet. He won bronze in 3000mts. running.

The third and the final day of the Cultural Fest was a day in which the audience were tapping for the various tunes for Std VIII the topic was Folk music which was colourful and vibrant. For Std IX, the theme was western music. The students mesmerised the audience. For Std X, it was free style, which was well presented by various groups. The dance performed by the various groups was colourful, vibrant and a feast to the eyes. All the captains were asked to come up to the stage and were praised for their wonderful team work.

SEVAK COMPETITON
We congratulate the students from the State Board High School who won I Prize in “Ethnic Song” and III Prize in “Song of Togetherness” in group singing competition held by SEVAK organization at Town Hall.

Tail Spin workshop started at 9.45 a.m. for Std. VIII students. World Democracy Day was celebrated by the CMCA club members. They also spoke about the importance of Democracy day through public address system. was followed by oath taking by all the students.

Mr. Renuka Aradhya accompanied 10 students for Cycle Rally. Hrishikesh of X std and Sanika of IX Std. won prizes in the drawing and letter writing competitions respectively conducted by the Jayangar Cycle Rally.

40 students accompanied by Ms. Asavari, visited ‘Home for the Aged’ to see the elders. They spoke to them and entertained them. This was organized by ‘Helpage India’.

The Excursion to Hyderabad was a 5 day enjoyment form 28th October 2012 – 1st October 2012. All the 10th Standard students along with the teachers enjoyed the tour. They visited a lot of places including Charminar and Ramoji Film City. The overall experience was memorable.

Supraja of IX D, Nagadeepika of IX C and Akhil of XB accompanied by Ms. Asavari attended the competitions in MEWA School, Jayanagar, Bangalore. Nagadeepika won III Prize in Debate competition.

Divyashree of Grade IX and Navya Belpu of Grade 9 attended the painting competition on ‘Corruption and Good Government’ at Cinema Academy, Banashankari. Navya Belpu won II Prize and Divyashree won Consolation Prize.

National High School, Basavanagudi organized a ‘Science Talk’ on various topics for high school students accompanied by Ms. Jayalakshmi, participated in the competition.

As is the tradition of our school, an interactive Parent-Teachers Meet was organized for the X Grade students. Director Principal chired the meeting and through PPT highlighted the various aspects of exam fear and tension and how to overcome them. She advised them as to how to prepare for the approaching Board Exmaination. She made it very clear that parents moral support plays a very important role in boosting the morale of the children. She concluded the meeting by advising the students to prepare a suitable time table and if they adhere to it strictly they can get rid of exmiantion fear and tension.

Traffic Police Department, Bangalore had organized various competitions to bring awareness about Road Safety. Two students won laurels.

As it is custom of our school to recognize and honour the winners of various sports events every year, the winners of the year 2012-13 were felicitated in the function that was held today. Many winners of VIII, IX and X standards who proved their best abilities in different kinds of sports and games were awarded with certificates and prizes. Students who brought laurels to the school at state and national levels were also felicitated. The Bhaskara House which secured highest points was honoured with a shield.

A field trip was organized for the students of CMCA to Traffic Police Station, Ashok Nagar, Bangalore. They were accompanied by the teacher Coordinator and CMCA Coordinator. The Sub-Inspector of the Police Station Mr. Vasanth Bhagawath explained to the children about the traffic rules and regulations and the necessity to follow the rules. He also explained the consequences if the traffic rules are not followed. He also showed some Video Clippings of the accidents which happened in Bangalore and some of the traffic signs and explained them.
